17th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Josh
Willingham - Florida Marlins |
|
Position(s):
OF |
Last Season: |
HR: 21 |
RBI: 89 |
Run: 75 |
SB: 8 |
Avg: .265 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Power and limited speed |
|
Positives:
Capable of hitting 25+ home runs and is on a base
stealing young team |
|
Negatives:
Inconsistent with the bat and will spend time on
the bench. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: We love this guy in the
17th round and frankly were shocked he fell this
far Willingham has hit 47 over the past two years
and chipped in 8 stolen bases last year. Not
only is he capable of being a great backup
starter, but even a solid third outfielder.
This is one of our best steals in the draft and we
do not doubt unless traded he will be on this team
all season. Compare his number to many of the
outfielders who gone before him and you will see
the value of this pick. |

The True GURU Projected
Stats: 25 HRs,
97 RBI, 80 Runs, 8 SB, .278 |

18th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Kerry Wood - Chicago Cubs |
|
Position(s):
RP |
Last Season: |
SV: 0 |
SO: 24 |
ERA: 3.33 |
WHIP: 1.27 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Saves, Strikeouts |
|
Positives: Dominating fastball |
|
Negatives:
Injury prone to the 10th degree |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: We figured he'd be the closer
for the Cubs over Marmol so he's a great pick at
18th. There is little or no risk this late
in the draft, so picking a possible closer with
the 18th pick is no only a great pick, but its a
smart pick. If he becomes a 30+ save closer
it becomes a dominating pick. |

19th Round Draft Pick -TARGET
J.J. Hardy -Milwaukee Brewers |
|
Position(s):
SS |
Last Season: |
HR: 26 |
RBI: 80 |
Run: 89 |
SB:2 |
Avg: .277 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Power |
|
Positives: Gets hot and hits
home runs and is in a powerful offense for the
Milwaukee Brewers.. |
|
Negatives:
Very streaky |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: We liked Hardy last
year, but remained reserved on him this season.
When we saw him out there at pick #19 we grabbed
him. He's a tremendous value as a backup
shortstop and that's what he'll be behind our
starter Hanley Ramirez. To go 18 picks
between shortstops and to have the two guys we
have is great. With his power he is also
worthy for a spot start as a utility player. |

Stats: 27

Erick
Aybar - LAA Angels |

Last Season: |
HR: 0 |
RBI: 4 |
Run: 10 |
SB: 3 |
Avg .356 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Speed and runs. |
|
Positives:
Very fast runner and hits for average. |
|
Negatives: Rookie. Not proven
in the major leagues for a full season. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: This is another one of
our sleepers, and we are very high on what he can
do. He will be playing two positions this
season or at least qualify for two positions.
That gives him tremendous value for your bench.
Then he will get on base and steal bases.
Welcome Chone Figgins #2. |

Kevin Youkilis - Boston Red Sox |

Position(s):

Last Season: |
HR: 16 |
RBI: 83 |
RUN: 85 |
SB: 4 |
Avg: .288 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Average, average power production. |
|
Positives:
Pounds out the hits and get allot of RBI
opportunities. |
|
Negatives:
Doesn't bat well on the road. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: Another great steal late in
the draft. Kevin Youkilis is not an everyday
player, but when he's playing in Fenway Park |
|

22nd Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Bengie Molina
-San Francisco Giants |
|
Position(s): C |
Last Season: |
HR: 19 |
RBI: 81 |
Run: 38 |
SB: 0 |
Avg: .276 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Power and Average at the catcher position. |
|
Positives:
Solid offensive catcher |
|
Negatives:
Older. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: We waited till the 22nd
pick to get a catcher. We love what we got
in Bengie Molina. Compared to catchers taken
in the 11-15 rounds he's a great value pick.
Getting a catch this late that has the
capabilities of hitting 20 home runs, 80 RBI, and
bats over .270 is absolutely a pick for the ages.
This pick alone will win me many categories
throughout the season. |

Garland - LAA Angels |
|
Position(s):
SP |
Last Season: |
W: 10 |
SO: 98 |
ERA: 4.23 |
WHIP: 1.32 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Wins. |
|
Positives:
Can get on a streak and win 5-6 games in a row. |
|
Negatives:
Streaky and getting worse each year. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: We took a chance here.
Most likely this pick will be a guy cut early by
us, but we wanted to take a chance on him and see
how he pitches on a team with a solid offense,
great defense, good ballpark, and excellent
bullpen. We don't see why he can't win 15
games. |

Stats: 15 W, 90

24th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Mike
Napoli- Houston Astros |
|
Position(s): C |
Last Season: |
HR: 10 |
RBI: 34 |
Run: 40 |
SB: 5 |
Avg: .247 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Power |
|
Positives: Can hit the long ball. |
|
Negatives:
Will split time with Mathis, very streaky. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: Napoli has very nice
power and if he ever got 500 At bats he could hit
28 HRs, but as a catcher he won't get there.
However as a backup catcher he's not a risk at all
and worth taking a look at as your back up catcher
especially with his power. |
|

Stats: 16 HRs,

25th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Matt
Diaz - Atlanta Braves |
|
Position(s):
OF |
Last Season: |
HR: 12 |
RBI: 45 |
Run: 44 |
SB: 4 |
Avg: .358 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Power, some speed, and average |
|
Positives: He's been around for
awhile, but can produce when hot. |
|
Negatives:
Not proven at all in the majors for a full season. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: Another sleeper of ours
and we will still with him for a very long time.
We think he has found his stride and though he's a
young player in the league he spend years in the
minors and is well-seasoned. We think he can
hit 22 home runs and batting over .300. He's
also in a great lineup, and will bat most likely
7th, so there is little pressure on him and lots
of guys on base in front of him. |

The True GURU Projected
Stats: 22
HR, 81 RBI, 67 Runs, 10 SBs, .310 Avg |

26th Round Draft Pick -

Joe
Saunders - LAA Angels |
|
Position(s):
SP |
Last Season: |
W: 8 |
SO: 69 |
ERA: 4.44 |
WHIP 1.52 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Wins |
|
Positives: Young pitcher with
great stuff |
|
Negatives:
Won't be in the majors for most of the season.
Injury starter |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: With Escobar out for
the start of the season and maybe all year,
Saunders will fill in for him. We thought
we'd give him a look at, but he is definitely a
player in our revolving roster spot and won't be
on the team long unless he's amazing. |
