9th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Andruw
Jones - LA Dodgers |
|
Position(s):
CF |
Last Season: |
HR: 26 |
RBI: 94 |
Run: 83 |
SB: 5 |
Avg: .222 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Power, some speed. |
|
Positives:
Great power and batting average potential. Only 31
years old, so in his prime. New team, new
promise. |
|
Negatives:
Coming off a terrible year average wise, and still
in a huge slump. Leaving the comfort of the
Braves. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: This was our first
risky pick, but we needed a outfielder and we got
one with the potential to hit 30 home runs a
season. There is allot of risk
associated with Jones, but we felt with the 8th
pick it was work the pick. We believe he has
some good years left in him and last season was a
aberration. |
|
The True GURU Projected
Stats: 25 HRs,
89 RBI, 87 Runs, 5 SB, .285 |

10th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Manny Corpas - Colorado Rockies |
|
Position(s):
RP |
Last Season: |
SV: 19 |
SO: 58 |
ERA: 2.06 |
WHIP: 1.06 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Saves, WHIP |
|
Positives: Young, hard
throwing closer in Colorado. |
|
Negatives:
Not much expereince, and pitches in Colorado. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: This was a risky pick,
but a great one at the 10th pick. Corpas
took over late last season for Fuentes and never
looked back. If he can hold up under the
pressure he should make a fine closer in Colorado.
He is now our second closer. We will try to
draft 2 more to make a great bullpen. |

11th Round Draft Pick -TARGET
James Loney -
LA Dodgers |
|
Position(s):
1B |
Last Season: |
HR: 15 |
RBI: 112 |
Run: 93 |
SB: 23 |
Avg: .276 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Power and average |
|
Positives: Young player with
tremendous skills at a scarce position in fantasy
baseball, 1B. |
|
Negatives:
Unproven for a full season. Must deal with
lots of good pitching in the NL West Division. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: Loney is our first
sleeper pick and will be our starting first
basemen. He may not do it this year, but we
believe he has 30 home run power, and has a great
batting average. He is a steal at pick 11,
and should make an immediate impact on our team.
Many owners grabbed their first basemen early, but
we waited and it will pay off by seasons end when
Loney has 25+ home runs. Many might not
consider him a sleeper, but we do. This pick was
between him or Ellsbury. Either pick would
have been a great one. We simply needed our first
basemen. |

12th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Kelly
Johnson - Atlanta Braves |
|
Position(s):
2B |
Last Season: |
HR: 16 |
RBI: 68 |
Run: 91 |
SB: 9 |
Avg .276 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Power for a 2b and speed. |
|
Positives:
Has 18-20 home run power and can steal bases.
Bats leadoff in the braves lineup |
|
Negatives: Not
yet proven, and inconsistent. Also can have
injury concerns. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: An absolute steal in
the 12th round. This young 2B for the Braves
is a great backup for when Robinson Cano goes into
slumps or even as a utility player. Kelly
Johnson will play an important role on this team. |
|
The True GURU Projected
Stats: 19 HRs,
72 RBI, 100 Runs, 11 SB, .284 BA |

13th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Oliver Perez -
New York Mets |
|
Position(s):
SP |
Last Season: |
W: 15 |
SO: 174 |
ERA: 3.56 |
WHIP: 1.31 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Wins and Strikeouts |
|
Positives:
Can strikeout 9-10 guys per game and is part of a
very good Mets team |
|
Negatives:
Inconsistent throughout career |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: IN this round we went
for our 6th starting pitcher and frankly got a
great one for a great value in Oliver Perez.
Not only will he be a back up if Harden fails, but
he will certainly be a good spot start. By
drafting him I have completed my starting rotation
and its one of the best in the game. Now we
need to focus more on the bullpen. |

14th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Aaron
Rowand- San Francisco Giants |
|
Position(s):
OF |
Last Season: |
HR: 27 |
RBI: 89 |
Run: 105 |
SB: 6 |
Avg: .309 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Powering Hitting, Speed |
|
Positives:
Plays hard, hits, hard and runs hard. |
|
Negatives:
Injury issues, and signed on with a terrible
offense. Has bad slumps. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: Great, but risky pick
at 14. Even know picks at this point are all a
little risky, Rowand signed on with the Giants and
their offense will provide little protection or
base runners for him. We hope to have him as
a solid backup outfielder, but will also hold onto
him as trade bait. He still has tremendous
pop in his bat. |
|
The True GURU Projected
Stats: 20 HRs, 70 RBI, 80 Runs, 8 SBs,

15th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Rich
Harden - Oakland Athletics |
|
Position(s):
SP |
Last Season: |
W: 1 |
SO: 27 |
ERA: 2.45 |
WHIP: 1.13 |
|
Primary Roto Skills:
Win, Strikeouts, ERA, and WHIP. |
|
Positives:
Great all around pitcher when he's healthy.
Has great stuff and command. He wil win
games when healthy. |
|
Negatives:
Serious Injury problems. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: If he can get you 2-25
starts he is a bargain. If not, a minor
risk. Harden hasn't played much over the past
three years, but we grabbed him as our 5th
starting pitcher. Its low risk at #15, and
we are very satisfied with our other 4 pitchers.
If he's a success we have our 5 man rotation.
If not, we will have a back up later in the draft. |

The True GURU Projected
Stats: 14W, 150

16th Round Draft Pick -
TARGET
Jeremy
Accardo- Houston Astros |
|
Position(s):
RP |
Last Season: |
SV: 30 |
SO: 57 |
ERA: 2.14 |
WHIP 1.11 |
|
Primary Roto Skills: Saves |
|
Positives: Closer for the Blue
Jays |
|
Negatives:
BJ Ryan will be coming back at some point. |
|
The True GURU
Thoughts: We know he is a
temporary closer and we wanted Ryan, but he went
off the board directly before our pick, so we
immediatley grabbed Accardo. He'll be
closing for at least 1-2 months for the Blue Jays
and after that be the setup man. Low risk,
high reward. |

Stats: 12 Saves,
55 SO, 2.56 ERA, 1.20 WHIP |
